“Strengths Explorer” – Gallup research has shown that students grow when they focus on what they do best rather than trying to improve on weaknesses. That’s the premise behind Strengths Explorer, the Gallup assessment in Naviance. Strengths Explorer assesses 10 talent themes for individuals and identifies each student’s three strongest emerging talents, such as Confidence, Dependability, or Future Thinker. It provides explanations of these themes, strategies for capitalizing on each, and action items to help students gain insight into their greatest talents – natural patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior – to leverage in the classroom and in life.

Begin creating a Resume: “Resume” – Utilizing the Resume feature allows students to create a professional resume. Though starting a resume as a 9th grader may seem early it allows students to update their activities, sports, and volunteers opportunities periodically in a professional and organized fashion.  Resumes can be used for the college application process as well as job interviews.

10th Grade

Career Exploration: “Career Interest Profiler” – By completing the Career Interest Profiler students will gain valuable information on careers that match their interest.  Students can then investigate the education, salary, and job outlook of careers of interest.  Students could then consider taking courses at CHS that align to their interest.

“Resume” – Utilizing the Resume feature allows students to continue to create a professional resume. It may seem early to establish this document but it allows students familiarize themselves with the process which they can easily update their activities, sports, and volunteers opportunities periodically in a professional and organized fashion each year.  Resumes can be used for the college application process as well as job interviews.

11th Grade

College Research: “College Supermatch”College Supermatch allows students to search for colleges/universities based on size, major, location, admission rates, sports, and a variety of other information that begins to make the college search process more manageable.  “Scattergrams” - CHS records data on students’ application outcomes. Through the Scattergram tool students will be able to determine the likelihood of acceptance at a college/university.

The College Application Process: Naviance allows CHS to submit students’ transcripts, letters of recommendation, and the school profile electronically and directly to the College/University.  Please see the College Application Checklist for more information.

Senior Questionnaire: Completing the Senior Questionnaire will give the guidance department pertinent information about students that could help them qualify for scholarships and/or special programs.  Before students graduate they will complete a Senior Survey which allows us to track important data based on application outcomes and scholarship money.
