As part of an ongoing effort to focus on Cinnaminson High School’s culture, each month, we highlight one attribute that will be our focus. We encourage students AND staff to spend the entire month focusing on that attribute. We will promote this in different ways by giving the students AND staff specific, yet simple, ways to model this behavior.
For the month of NOVEMBER, the focus is CITIZENSHIP. Citizenship means doing your best to make your home, community, neighborhood, and school better places. A good citizen obeys rules and respects authority. Let us ALL show our CITIZENSHIP by doing just that. Here are some more ways to show your citizenship:
- If you are 18 or older, vote on Election Day. If not, encourage those who are to do so.
- Follow the school rules.
- Demonstrate good manners.
- Help a fellow student who is struggling with a lesson or concept.
- Participate and become involved by making contributions to your school community.
- Participate in the Thanksgiving Food.
- Follow the Cinnaminson Patch and other local and national news outlets.
Please help us by encouraging your child(ren) to demonstrate these simple acts each month. We look forward to fostering a culture of Commitment, Honor, and Spirit at CHS!

The CHS equity committee and student leadership team honored Hispanic Heritage Month with bright colors, positive messages, and read alouds at Rush and New Albany schools. A trip to the University of Pennsylvania's Archeology museum gave staff and students an opportunity to dig into the rich, diverse, and brilliant histories of Latin and South American cultures.
Student Affinity group sessions are well underway. Our theme this year is JOY, and all student leaders and their staff mentors receive training to ensure healthy leadership transitions and begin a purposeful school year of JOYFUL group work. Student feedback remains positive and promising. Student leaders continue working together to encourage a stronger sense of self, and identify goals for creating and sustaining JOY. The ideas students identify and create are essential to building a Beloved Community at CHS. Our combined equity efforts continue to thrive and grow, spilling out of our hallways into our township, county, state, country, and ultimately the world.
This month our Athletes for Social Justice (A4SJ) affinity group is hosting their second annual ONE COMMUNITY flag football game November 26th in the CHS stadium from 12:30 - 2:30. All are welcome to attend, a $2 donation at the door will support The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation. The CHS Equity committee and A4SJ want to acknowledge the Cinnaminson Education Association for sponsoring this event with funding through their PEP grant. This special event means so much to our students and we hope to see you there. Please look to school announcements for more information about the event.
Every month we honor the culture and heritage of America's indigenous families, and in November we celebrate the rich history of America's first peoples. Native Americans deeply enrich the quality and character of our Nation and maintain a sacred relationship with the land we occupy. This month at CHS, we focus on the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape peoples whose ancestral lands we call home. Students and staff met in late October to generate ideas to lift the rich history and culture of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape in our building. To celebrate Native American Heritage Month, you can learn about Native American history and culture by reading books and watching documentaries, attend cultural events hosted by Native organizations, support Native-owned businesses and artists, volunteer with Native communities, explore local Indigenous landmarks, and make a land acknowledgement to recognize the traditional territories we live on; visit this link to learn more about the lands on which we live. Here you can also learn more about our local Nanticoke Lenni Lenape tribal community, find information about upcoming events, and the hours to the tribal store in Bridgeton NJ: an amazing location to plan a visit any time of the year.
If you have any questions about these initiatives at CHS, please do not hesitate to contact the CHS equity chairs.

Epilepsy affects approximately 3.4 million people in the U.S., and 1 out of 26 people will develop Epilepsy during their life. It is vital to promote the diagnosis of this condition in order to alleviate seizures and their impact, improve quality of life, and even prevent death (SUDEP—sudden unexpected death in Epilepsy).
Most seizures last a few seconds or a few minutes and can make a person feel sleepy or confused for a period of time afterward. Some people may also not remember the seizure or what happened immediately before, while others may be very alert following a seizure. This varies from person to person.
What should you do if someone has a seizure?
It can be scary to see someone have a seizure, but there are a few things you can do to keep that person safe.
- Stay calm.
- Do not hold or restrain the person.
- Help the person lie down on their side on a flat, comfortable surface.
- Do not put anything in the person’s mouth during the seizure, as forcing the mouth open may cause an injury.
- If the person is wearing glasses or a backpack, remove them. You should also loosen any tight clothing near the neck.
- Move sharp or hard objects away from the person.
- Do not leave the person alone.
- Make sure they are breathing without difficulty.
- Talk to them with a calm, reassuring voice after the seizure is over.
- Pay attention during the seizure so that you will be able to describe what happened before, during, and after.
The person may need medical attention if they have trouble breathing or appear bluish around the mouth after the seizure, have a medical condition like diabetes, have a long seizure, or have multiple seizures. In cases of emergency, always call 9-1-1.
*On Thursday, November 21th. Please join the Cinnaminson Community by wearing Purple to bring awareness to Epilepsy. *

We finished the Unified Soccer season on a high note, celebrating not only our growth as a team but also our incredible seniors: Gabe, Gabby, Jheferson, Beyza, Lauren, Emily, and Lucas. Throughout the season, every player learned the true value of teamwork, acceptance, and supporting one another. Each game and practice was filled with laughter, encouragement, and joy. No matter who you are or what your role was, everyone was an important part of the team. This year, the Unified Soccer team grew with even more amazing teammates, showing just how meaningful Unified Sports truly are. Together, we demonstrated teamwork, inclusion, and friendship on and off the field. We couldn’t be a team without each and every one of our players who make it all possible.

If your child is absent or late to school, written verification to satisfy the requirements of the attendance policy must be submitted to the Attendance Office within two school days, by 8:00 AM on the third day, if the request of the absence is to be considered excused. This is a particular concern when calculating Winner’s Circle.

For those driving children to and from school each morning, please ensure that you follow all posted speed limits and drive safely through the surrounding neighborhoods when driving to and from school each day. We all are responsible for ensuring all children arrive at their respective schools safely each morning.
|
Please remember that students are to be dropped off in the lane in front of the school only. Students are not to be dropped off in the parking lot. We want to make sure that students arrive at school as safely and efficiently as possible. Dropping off students in the parking lot increases the interactions between cars and students and delays the main drop-off line as more students need to cross the drop-off lane in the crosswalk.

ESEA Section 8528 outlines provisions that give military recruiters the same access to secondary school students as recruiters from postsecondary institutions or prospective employers (e.g., college fairs, job fairs) and, when requested, requires LEAs to provide students’ names, addresses, electronic mail addresses, and telephone numbers to military recruiters. Parents who do not wish the district to provide name, address, and email information with military recruiters must notify the school in writing. A sample opt-out letter is available at the following link:

For the safety of your children, we will be requiring that when a student is released from school on an Early Dismissal for any reason, any person (including the parent) picking up your child must present photo identification. As a reminder, we will only release your child to a parent/guardian or emergency contact. Again, this is for the safety of your children.
|
|
Parents who are picking up your child/children after practice/games, please do not park and wait in the lane of traffic in front of the gymnasium. Please park in the parking lot and wait for your child. Parking in the lane of traffic causes safety issues on many levels. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.

All Young Men Who Are 18 Years Old, Or About To Turn 18: You are legally obligated to register with Selective Service. By registering you add your name to a list of all men in the nation 18-25. The list would be used to identify men for possible military service in case of a national emergency. You must also register with Selective Service to receive Federal Student Aid for college. The law says that all 18-year-old men must register within 30 days of their 18th birthday. You can register with Selective Service in less than 2 minutes via the internet at: www.sss.gov, or you can go to the Post Office and complete a registration form. You can also register online when filling out your FASFA. It’s quick, easy and the law.
