Important Electronic Device Policy Information & Reminders

Posted Date: 09/01/26 (02:50 PM)

Dear CHS Parents and Guardians,

We hope you and your family had a wonderful, restful summer! As we prepare to welcome our students back into the building, we want to ensure everyone is set up for a smooth, focused, and successful start to the school year.
To help maintain an active, engaging, and distraction-free learning environment, we are asking for your partnership in reinforcing our updated Electronic Device Policy.

Starting on the first day of school, all personal electronic devices must remain put AWAY FOR THE DAY in either a student's locker or bookbag.

  • Timeframe: Bell-to-bell (7:35 AM – 2:11 PM), 1st period through 9th period.
  • Covered Devices: Cell phones, smartwatches, smart glasses, tablets, personal laptops, headphones, earbuds, etc.

Policy Violations & Consequences

Please review the policy violations and expectations with your child. Note that certain offenses require a parent or guardian to pick up the device from school.
Cell Phone Policy:
  • First Offense: 3 Lunch Detentions (Device confiscated; returned to student at the end of the day)
  • Second Offense: Wednesday School (Device confiscated; requires parent/guardian pick-up)
  • Subsequent Offenses: In-School Suspension (ISS) (Device confiscated; requires parent/guardian pick-up)
Headphone / Earbud Policy:
  • First Offense: 1 Lunch Detention (Device confiscated; returned to student at the end of the day)
  • Second Offense: 3 Lunch Detentions (Device confiscated; returned to student at the end of the day)
  • Subsequent Offenses: Wednesday School (Device confiscated; requires parent/guardian pick-up) progressing to OSS/ISS options
*Note: Students who fail to turn in their cell phones or internet-enabled devices to a staff member when prompted will be viewed as insubordinate and subject to suspension.
Students will go over the full details of this policy during their grade-level assemblies this week.

Communication During the School Day:
If you need to reach your child during the school day for an urgent message, please call the main office directly so we can assist you. Likewise, if a student ever needs to contact home during school hours, they are always welcome to use the phone in the main office. This ensures families can stay connected without disrupting instructional time.

Thank you in advance for your support and collaboration in making this a great school year for our students! Please find a quick reference flyer below.
